Following a Gameweek dominated by Manchester United attackers, we look ahead at the best FPL Gameweek 34+ Captain options.
It was a real feast of famine week for FPL captains in Gameweek 33+. FPL managers who entrusted Manchester United assets were rewarded handsomely as the Red Devils thrashed Bournemouth 5-2 on Saturday. Bruno Fernandes, Anthony Martial and Mason Greenwood all provided double digit hauls for their respective owners. Marcus Rashford were left disappointed with only a single (6 point) return.
On the other side of Manchester, owners of Kevin De Bruyne, Gabriel Jesus, Riyad Mahrez and Raheem Sterling were all let down following a single point performance.
Over at Chelsea, wingers Christian Pulisic and Willian continued their red hot form. While both Jamie Vardy and Sadio Mane broke out of their respective goal scoring slumps.
As we look ahead to the Gameweek 34+ fixtures, the big clubs are once again in the spotlight. Manchester United, Manchester City, and Liverpool all walk into very favorable fixtures. This makes the FPL Gameweek 34+ captain decision difficult once again.

Kevin De Bruyne – NEW (H)
It was a tough weekend for those who gave Kevin De Bruyne the armband last Gameweek. The Manchester City star was given a rest on the weekend, but due to the team’s poor performance, he was brought on for the final 30 minutes. The result was a measly 1 pointer, and a valuable substitute block.
However, FPL managers would be wise to put last Gameweek’s trouble behind them. Despite the night off, Kevin De Bruyne remains at the top of the FPL standings with 216 points. He still leads the league with 20 assists and has recorded 9 double digit hauls on the season. As the weekend performance has shown, he is absolutely critical to the City attack.
De Bruyne will also be welcoming his opponents with open arms this weekend. In the previous 7 appearances against Newcastle, the Belgian has recorded 3 goals and 4 assists. This includes a 1 goal, 3 bonus, 10 point haul in their last meeting in Gameweek 14.
Fresh off his bench start, there is no real risk of rotation for KDB again this week. With his excellent form and explosive potential, Kevin De Bruyne is a standout FPL Gameweek 34+ Captain option.
Bruno Fernandes – AVL (A)
It is no longer a secret that Bruno Fernandes is the hottest FPL commodity right now. The Manchester United midfielder is in scintillating form, with back-to-back 15 point returns against Brighton and Bournemouth.
Indeed, Fernandes has been the standout player in FPL since his arrival in the Premier League. In the 9 games played, the Portuguese star has carried Manchester United with 5 goals and 6 assists. The result? How about 80 points, for an average of 8.9 points per game. Over a season that amounts to over 330 points – nothing short of incredible.
Of course, Bruno will come back down to Earth at some point. However, with a favorable match against Aston Villa this week, we think he can extend his current run of form. That makes Bruno Fernandes a delicious FPL Gameweek 34+ captain option.
Jamie Vardy – ARS (A)
There was once a time where Jamie Vardy was a mainstay on this list. The enigmatic forward was flying high in the first half of the season. However, Leicester City’s form took a turn following the holiday break, and with it, so did Vardy’s finishing.
While Jamie Vardy is far from a safe pick this Gameweek, there is evidence to support that he could be in for a good return.
The English striker found the back of the net twice against Crystal Palace on the weekend, marking his first goals since the break. Despite a fortunate first goal, the Leicester legend was clinical and confident in his second.
A trip to Arsenal should provide the encouragement for Vardy to continue producing goals. In 10 previous appearances against the Gunners, he has scored 9 goals and added an assist. This includes a fantastic 1 goal, 1 assist performance in Gameweek 12, which owners celebrated with a 12 point haul.
As we’ve seen earlier in the season, a confident Jamie Vardy is a lethal and explosive fantasy asset. This makes him an excellent differential FPL Gameweek 34+ captain option for those looking to go the high-risk, high-reward route.
Our Pick: Kevin De Bruyne
It seems (like so many times this year), Kevin De Bruyne has everything going for him this Gameweek. The Manchester City star comes into a favorable match up against an opponent who he has preyed on in the past. The FPL’s leading point scorer will be motivated to build on his attacking returns, as he sets his sights on the Premier League assist record. Fresh off a substitute appearance, there is virtually no risk of another rotation this week. Combined with his explosive potential, De Bruyne is the standout FPL Gameweek 34+ captain option.
