As always, be sure to check out our FPL Captaincy Guide for more tips on selecting your FPL captain.
Kevin De Bruyne – SOU (A)
If we had to pick a single player to captain our team for Gameweek 33+ then it would be Kevin De Bruyne. In fact, De Bruyne is quite possibly the best “set and forget” captain option for the remainder of the season. The Belgian has been the standout FPL asset to own this season. Having scored 11 goals and adding an outstanding 20 assists, KDB sits atop the standings with 215 points.
Not only is Man City star consistent, but he is also explosive. Through 32 weeks, De Bruyne has already registered 9 double digits hauls.
The Belgian also enters Gameweek 33+ with both form and fixture to his advantage. Since the Premier League returned to action, De Bruyne has registered 3 goals, 2 assists and 8 bonus points, for a total of 37 points over 4 games. He now visits a Southampton side which he has feasted on in the past. In the 6 previous matches against the Saints, KDB has registered 2 goals and 6 assists.
With penalty duties now in his arsenal and good City form, Kevin De Bruyne is a standout FPL Gameweek 33+ captain option.
Bruno Fernandes – BOU (H)
Since he joined the Premier League, no player has put up more consistent, elite numbers than Bruno Fernandes.
Indeed, the Portuguese international has provided attacking returns in 6 of the 8 games since joining the league. With 5 goals, 3 assists and 10 bonus points, faithful Bruno owners have been handsomely rewarded. His 65 FPL points in 8 games translates to an average of 8.1 points per game. By comparison, the league’s top scorer De Bruyne sits at 6.7 points per game.
Needless to say, Fernandes’ form has been scintillating. With 3 goals in his last 3 games, the United midfielder has been turning heads in the FPL universe.
Bruno also has all the opportunities available to him to continue his good run of form. His role at the heart of the United attack will provide multiple openings for FPL returns. Likewise, his penalty duties raise his chances for big hauls.
With a visit from a struggling Bournemouth side, the stage is set for more big returns. This makes Bruno Fernandes an exception FPL Gameweek 33+ captain option.
Mohamed Salah – AVL (H)
In a week where Liverpool host a woeful Aston Villa side, it is difficult to disregard Mohamed Salah.
Perhaps due to his GW 30+ absence, the Liverpool star has been flying under the FPL radar in recent weeks. Despite this, Salah reminded managers why he has been such an elite FPL asset in Gameweek 31+. The Egyptian rewarded his owners with a goal and an assist, for a solid 11 points.
There is concerns in the FPL community that Liverpool assets are a risk after securing the Premier League title. However, it is important to remember that Salah is chasing the defense of the Golden Boot.
It is easy to forget that Salah is still a prized FPL asset. He currently sits second in FPL scoring with 199 points by virtue of 17 goals and 7 assists. An explosive asset, Mo already has 8 double digit hauls this season.
It would be irresponsible to neglect Mohamed Salah as a captain option this week. He could very easily be the best FPL Gameweek 33+ captain.
Our Pick: Kevin De Bruyne
In the chase for the next big thing, FPL managers are often blind to what is right in front of them. Kevin De Bruyne has been atop the FPL standings all season long and he doesn’t appear to be letting down. With both form and fixture, the Belgian provides and explosive and reliable FPL Gameweek 33+ captain option. He is the complete package.
