With so many injuries, bookings and rotations heading into this Gameweek, we look at the best FPL Gameweek 31+ Captain options.

It was a wild return to action in Gameweek 30+ for FPL managers. An early rush of points from Man City attack and Sheffield United defense on Wednesday was just what managers were craving after the prolonged break. However, the euphoria didn’t last as the Sheffield United defense crumbled at Newcastle, culminating in a sending off of John Egan. Meanwhile, at the Etihad, Pep’s roulette was back to annoy FPL managers against Burnley with the benching of Kevin De Bruyne, Raheem Sterling and Aymeric Laporte.

Unfortunately, the frustration for FPL managers didn’t end there as big hitters Mohamed Salah and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang both failed to return for their owners. The former missing due to injury, while the latter blanking despite a Double Gameweek. Sergio Aguero owners also finished the week in tears as the Man City star limped off just before half time with a knee injury.

With so many injuries, bookings and rotations heading into Gameweek 31+, it can be very difficult to make captaincy decisions. A 24 hour turnaround time doesn’t help either. Luckily for you, we’re highlighting who we believe are the best FPL Gameweek 31+ captain options.

As always, be sure to check out our FPL Captaincy Guide for more tips on selecting your FPL captain.

Raul Jimenez – BOU (H)

9 days to start again! 💪🏼🐺9️⃣⚽️

Posted by Raul Jimenez on Thursday, June 11, 2020

As one of the most consistent players this season, Raul Jimenez comes in as our safest and most reliable FPL Gameweek 31+ captain options. While the points ceiling may not be as high as for others on this list, the returns have been steady and predictable for the Wolves frontman.

With 14 goals and 6 assists through 30 games played, Jimenez ranks third among FPL forwards this season with 155 points. The Mexican international returned to action with a bang, scoring a decisive goal against West Ham and collecting 2 BPS in the process.

Jimenez will look to build on that early success with an enticing fixture against a sluggish Bournemouth this week. The Wolves star boasts an impressive goal scoring record against the Cherries, with 3 goals in 3 games played.

While unlikely to be an explosive asset, you can certainly count on Jimenez as a reliable FPL Gameweek 31+ captain option.

Mohamed Salah – CRY (H)

Despite frustrating managers the previous week, Mohamed Salah stands firmly as one of the favorite FPL Gameweek 31+ captain options.

After missing DGW 30+ due to injury, Salah is back and healthy for Liverpool. That bodes well for the Reds’ attack, which has been noticeably hampered by the Egyptian’s absence.

Salah will look to continue where he left off as he returns to action against a resilient Crystal Palace team. Despite their defensive fortitude, the Liverpool star has seen great success in their previous encounters. Indeed, in the last 3 outings against Palace, Salah has returned 3 goals and 2 assists. It is this kind of success that has kept Mo consistently at or near the top of the FPL leader boards. As it stands, Salah currently sits in second with 186 points, courtesy of 16 goals and 6 assists.

With 7 double digit returns already this season, a rested Mo Salah will be hungry to return back to action and onto the score sheet. This makes Salah an explosive FPL Gameweek 31+ captain pick.

Bruno Fernandes – SHU (H)

If you’re looking for a differential captain pick for this week, look no further than Bruno Fernandes.

The Manchester United midfielder has lit up FPL since signing for the English club several months ago. In fact, since his second match in the Premier League, Fernandes has provided an attacking return in every game. That’s good for 3 goals and 3 assists in 6 games – impressive for a sub-premium midfielder.

Ferndandes’ appeal is also raised by his penalty kicking duties, as no team has earned more penalties this season than United (11).

A match up against a decimated Sheffield United defense further raises Bruno’s prospects. With Egan suspended, O’Connell injured and Henderson ineligible to play, the usually formidable Blades side will be a shell of its normal self. Look for United to capitalize on a vulnerable defense, similar to what Newcastle did the Gameweek prior.

If you’re looking to make a jump in your mini-league, Bruno Fernandes can be an excellent FPL Gameweek 31+ captain.

Our Pick: Mohamed Salah

While the captaincy decision appears to be very open this week, we’re going to go with Mohamed Salah. The Liverpool star is well rested and offers the most explosive option with a favorable match up. Penalty kicking duties and an impressive scoring record at home add to make the Egyptian the standout FPL Gameweek 31+ captain.
