With both Liverpool and West Ham scheduled to play twice this week, we look ahead to your FPL Gameweek 24 Captain options.

Mohamed Salah (@WOL, @ WHU)
It is no surprise that we kick off this list with the most prolific Liverpool scorer over the last few seasons, Mohamed Salah. With back-to-back golden boots, and tied for the team lead in goals (11), it is difficult to overlook the Egyptian King.
While certainly more productive at Anfield, Salah will be encouraged by the opposition he faces this week. In his 4 appearances against West Ham, Salah has returned 4 goals and 1 assist.
And despite a reputation for being tight at the back, the Wolves defense has opened up in the last few weeks allowing 5 goals in their last 3 games. In his three appearances against Wolves, Salah has produced a goal and an assist.
Salah’s current form also suggests that he could be in for a productive week. Over the last 4 weeks, Mo has scored 2 goals and supplied an assist – good enough for a return of 26 points over that span. Additionally, he has produced three double digit returns over his last 7 weeks helping him close the gap on Liverpool teammate Sadio Mane. Indeed, with his excellent run of form, Salah now sits 5th overall and 3rd among midfielders in total FPL points (133) this season. With unusually low ownership (27%), he stands out as a surprising differential Gameweek 24 captain.
Sadio Mane (@WOL, @ WHU)
You can’t talk about a Liverpool Double Gameweek without talking about their best and most consistent attacking threat this season. This FPL season, Sadio Mane has established himself as the most reliable Liverpool asset and the statistics back this up. Over the course of the season, Mane has not gone more than two games without a return and more impressively, has never gone more than three games without a double digit haul.
Unlike his teammate, Mane has been equally productive away as he has been at home. In 9 away games this season, he has produced 4 goals and 3 assists. This is superior to Salah’s 1 goal, 3 assists and is only bettered by Roberto Firmino, who has an impressive 7 goals and 1 assist away from home.
Sadio Mane also holds a superb record against the opposition in Gameweek 24. In three games against Wolves, he has scored three times, including in the reverse fixture earlier this year. His record against West Ham is even better with 4 goals, 3 assists in 8 matches played.
With an excellent away record, high ownership (41%) and consistency, it is more than likely that Sadio Mane will be chosen as the Gameweek 24 captain by most FPL managers.
Trent Alexander-Arnold (@WOL, @ WHU)
While most managers will look to Liverpool’s attacking players for their Gameweek 24 captain, Trent Alexander-Arnold (TAA) offers an intriguing differential for FPL managers who are concerned about rotation.
Liverpool’s defense has not conceded a goal in their last 7 Premier League games and the FPL points are rolling in for Trent. In the last 4 weeks, he has produced 30 FPL points thanks to an assist and 4 clean sheets. Looking back even further, TAA has collected 60 points in his last 6 games, including a whopping 24 points against Leicester. While the Leicester game was certainly an exception and not the rule, it demonstrates the high ceiling that this young man has.
Fear of rotation in a busy Double Gameweek also raises the appeal for TAA. Both Salah and Mane have started in fewer games this season, potentially increasing the odds that they may be rested in one of the Gameweek 24 fixtures.
Liverpool’s strong defensive form coupled with exceptional attacking potential makes Trent Alexander-Arnold a high risk, high reward FPL Gameweek 24 captain option.
Sergio Aguero (@SHU)
The mere fact that Sergio Aguero makes this list during a Liverpool Double Gameweek speaks to the astounding form that the Argentinian has shown recently.
Over the last two games, Aguero has collected an incredible 33 FPL points with 5 goals, 1 assist and 6 bonus points. After thrashing Aston Villa in Gameweek 22 with 3 goals and an assist, he continued his ravaging form with a brace (2 goals) against Crystal Palace in Gameweek 23. Looking back even further, in the 3 games that he has started since returning from injury, Aguero has collected 6 goals, 1 assist and 8 bonus points.
Double Gameweeks do not always play out the way FPL managers expect them to. Captaining a player who has a Double Gameweek does not guarantee that they will return more than a player with a regular Gameweek. Form, fatigue, rotation and chance all play a part in determining the end result.
And with his astonishing form, it would be dangerous to overlook Sergio Aguero as a viable pick for your FPL Gameweek 24 captain.
